Kaohsiung deserves bouquets from the world of sports
When decathlete Yang Chuan-kwang of Taiwan confronted American Rafer Johnson in one of the most exciting decathlon contests in the Olympic Games, which Rome hosted in 1960, the whole world came to learn of the country he represented.
In the end Johnson, with an Olympic record of 8,392 points, pipped the gutsy Yang (8334 points).
But the duo earned the admiration of the world with their titanic contest.
Yang became the first Taiwanese athlete to win an Olympic medal.
A year later I met Johnson at the Colombo Oval taking part in an All Comers competition and learned how hard athletes prepare themselves before any competition. He was running in the 110 metres hurdles event. Before the race he got to a corner of the Colombo Oval and psyched himself up. I moved away from the man. However, after the race he was as meek as a lamb.
When I witnessed the opening of the World Games on Thursday, I was reminded of Yang and the exciting decathlon contest, which the world had followed closely. .....

我懂说一些湖南,湖北方言, 广东话, 工作需要会点英语和德语, 不过我还真不知道福建话的用法.
其实我还蛮赞成你后半段的观点. 所以我说Taiwan is a part of China, 那是我家的事, 你说Taiwan is an independent country, 那也是你家的事,所以我们都不用费口舌相互争辩了.

證明只要政府與民眾肯努力就能拿出好成績
反觀台北還在為不合規定的聽障奧運和內捷搞得焦頭爛額
